Wellness Rooms for Lactating Parents

The IU Indianapolis campus currently provides 31 private wellness rooms to support Academic, Staff, and Students who are lactating. Each room is secure, clean, and easy to use. The University strives to add more rooms at a variety of locations on campus. Please contact Healthy IU for more information or to provide updates on locations.

Also included, are room locations at the practicing medical facilities and centers for the IUSM Academic, Staff and Students.

Note: Refrigeration and milk storage are not available in every location. If you need further assistance, please contact Healthy IU at healthyu@iu.edu. For information on how to store breastmilk while working, visit the CDC recommendations website.

How to Access: The room must be reserved using the 25Live Reservation System. If you do not have a 25Live account, please request an account at One.IU.edu.

The room can be scheduled 72 hours in advance for a max 30 minute window. If it will not be used or is not needed for the entire time, we ask that users cancel ahead of time or release the room early when completed. The room can be scheduled at the panel and released at the room's panel.

How to Access: First time users, go to the Information Desk to obtain the room access code. Your Crimson Card must be presented. No ID, check in at the Information Desk.

How to Access: The room is located on the lower level. Pre-arranged scheduling is not required. The room can be locked from the inside which will indicate that the room is occupied to outsiders.

How to Access: IUSD students, staff, and faculty may gain access to the Lactation/Wellness room by emailing iusdss@iu.edu or stopping by DS 105 and confirming an available time and accessing a key for the space available at the time needed.

If an individual needs regularly access to the wellness room (daily, weekly), they can have their crimson card programmed for acess once after confirming regular availability for a room that fits their schedule.

Room Locations: IB 205 (Library side) and 424C (Research side)

How to Access: The rooms are unlocked when not in use. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The rooms are accessible during library hours. If you need access outside of library hours, you may email libmcirc@iu.edu to obtain card access to the 24-hour study area. The 424C room requires Crimson Card access to use the elevator after hours.

How to Access: Visit room UC115 to register for key swipe access to get the room unlocked or contact the Multicultural Center at (317)274-2815 or mciui@iu.edu.

How to Access: The 4th floor of University Hall is restricted after 6pm and on weekends.  For after hours Crimson Card access, contact Jamie Owens at owensjam@iu.edu. Please allow 2 business days for requests to be processed.

The wellness room calendar can be found by searching in public calendars (University Hall [AD] 4001). Go to the calendar tab of Outlook, click on add calendar, search for University Hall 4001 from the room list or in the address book.  Once you find it, double click and select ok. By selecting ok, the room should be saved with your other calendars. Whenever you wish to reserve the room, be sure it is available, then complete and submit the request. The room will need to be reserved each time that you wish to use it to ensure that is is not being used by another individual. The room can be reserved in 30-minute intervals up to 1 hour at a time.

How to Access This room is located in the AOC of University Hospital on the 5th floor. It does not require key/card access or a reservation. Room usage is first come, first served.

Room Location: Room 2140D

How to Access: The room is located in the hallway to the right of the Pop Shop on the 2nd floor. The room access code can be access at the Information & Service Desk on Level Two of the library.

Room Location: Room C201

How to Access: The room is open and ready for use with no key, access code, or Crimson card access needed.  Ther is an in-use indicator on the door.  If questions or needs arise, contact Kim Burrows at kburrows@iu.edu.

Supporting Lactating Employees & Colleagues
