Menopause is a natural stage of life, yet it can bring real physical, emotional, and other challenges that are too often overlooked. Experiences vary widely, but common symptoms—such as fatigue, hot flashes, anxiety, brain fog, or disrupted sleep—can affect confidence, comfort, and day-to-day wellbeing.
Indiana University is committed to supporting employees through menopause with empathy, compassion, and practical resources. Through open conversations, supportive benefits, and access to the right tools and guidance, we aim to ensure that everyone can continue to thrive at work during this stage of life—and beyond.
Medical coverage for menopause coverage includes OB-GYN consultations, diagnostic screenings (mammograms, bone density tests), and prescription medications. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for symptoms is covered when deemed medically necessary. Coverage for these services may be subject to specific requirements, limitations or exclusions as outlined in the plan document. Visit the IU Benefits website to learn more.
Our Menopause Matters Teams page is a welcoming, supportive space created especially for our employees. It’s a fun, engaging community where learning meets real-life experience—no awkwardness, no judgment, just honest conversation and shared understanding. Here, you’ll find educational resources, practical tips, and opportunities to connect with colleagues who get it.
