High blood pressure can lead to serious health risks. Because high blood pressure often has no symptoms, it’s important to regularly monitor your blood pressure. Find the self-monitoring blood pressure machine on campus HERE:
Both Blood pressure machine and scale location:
- Northside Hall, 1825 Northside Blvd. (Lower Level Near Cafe)
*There are also scales located in the men’s and women’s locker rooms in the SAC. These scales are not maintained by Healthy IU. If you have questions about these scales, please call the SAC front desk at 574-520-4100.
Reminder when you check your blood pressure, follow these instructions for the most accurate reading:
- Sit quietly for 3-5 minutes before starting the machine.
- Sit in a comfortable position with your legs and ankles uncrossed.
- Rest your arm comfortably in the cuff and keep your hand relaxed.
- If possible, place the cuff over bare skin and not over clothing.
- Do not talk or move while the machine is on.
- Repeat the screening 2-3 minutes after the first one to compare.
- Document your readings and track your numbers.
Note: This is a screening and not diagnostic. Please follow up with your health care provider as needed.
